Meet Crystal Jo, LMFT

I’m Crystal Jo, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in New York and the founder of Keystone Marriage and Family Therapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families who want greater clarity, connection, and stability in their relationships and in themselves.

My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I offer a space that is emotionally safe and culturally responsive, where we can slow down, understand what’s underneath the surface, and build meaningful, sustainable change.

Clinical Focus

  • Couples therapy (communication, conflict cycles, trust repair)
  • Premarital counseling using Prepare/Enrich
  • Maternal mental health and postpartum transitions
  • Asian and interracial relationship dynamics
  • Sex therapy support for couples experiencing dissatisfaction or dysfunction

Professional Background

In addition to private practice, I’m an adjunct professor at NYU where I teach graduate coursework in Relational Therapy. Teaching keeps me engaged with current research and reflective clinical practice.

My training includes maternal mental health through Postpartum Support International and the Moms 2020 Maternal Mental Health Training Certification Program. Earlier in my career, I worked in OASAS outpatient settings, including participation in an outpatient perinatal program supporting individuals and families through major life transitions.

Culturally Responsive Care

As a Korean American therapist, I understand the impact of culture, family roles, and intergenerational expectations. Many Asian and Asian American clients seek me out because they want a therapist who recognizes these nuances without requiring explanation.

Therapy can be a space to explore identity, boundaries, and relationships in ways that honor both cultural values and personal needs.
